Default Firefox

I downloaded Mozilla Firefox a while ago, and ever since then whenever I go to, say gamespot, and try to watch a video, the popup page will load, the wuicly go away. Now i have turned off popups, and allowed popups for this site, and it still refuses to work. I was hoping somebody on here can help me. Thank you.

I use Avant Browser---it blocks popups, but when it does a little link appears in the corner of your screen that shows what it blocked, so if it blocked one you can just click the link and it'll pop up for you. Avant Browser is also just as secure as Firefox---get it at download.com, give it a try.

I'm using Firefox 1.5 and didn't have any problems viewing the videos on Gamespot. What version of Firefox are you using? Are there any other sites where video plays fine (see if you can view anything at video.google.com)?

You might also try upgrading your Windows Media Player.

I had fire fox once and that happend to me quite often. Im not sure if it works for fire fox but whenever current popup blocker decides to butt in i just hold down "Ctrl" and it lets stuff pop up, I never tested that with fire fox but I guess its worth a shot.

I believe I am using the latest version. Another site that doesn't work is ifilm. And on google video, it opens the video in the same page.

Some sites don't work with firefox, it's a pain in the ass because it means I often have to use *shudder* IE to view videos.

I think it does have something to do with Windows Media Player, but I simply refuse to upgrade from version 9 to version 10, because 9 owns 10 all over the shop.

ifilm didn't give me any problems. either. I've got WMP 9.00.00.3250 installed. You might try break.com...see if the problem is pop-up specific or if it happens with any WMP-embedded page. video.google.com uses a Flash-player, so I'm not sure what codec it may have been using...probably wasn't a good example.

Well, I can't figure it out. I upgraded my windows media player, and I tried IE, but whenever I click on a video, it pops up, then goes away. Even when I click open in new window, it says I cannot load the page.

If you have Adblocker installed, the new version of Firefox will mess up some Flash-driven animation windows. I had this problem when I upgraded.

Tools>Adblock>Preferences - then click Adblock Options, then obj-tabs

Make sure obj-tabs is not checked. I haven't had anymore problems since I've done this.
